Sometimes, I think life knows just what we need. When I received a call for a couples’ session on the beach, I had no expectations of what I’d see when I walked onto Siesta Key, but I never would have expected what I found. Standing in front of me in a full blown tuxedo was a man waiting on his wife. When she emerged in a wedding gown, my stomach dropped and my nerves went through the roof. This was not what I had planned for, but in that kind of a moment there is no time to stress and so we walked right onto the beach and started our session. I needed that. I needed ‘no time’. As my mind raced from how to convert my initial plan into a ‘wedding themed’ plan, they told me about how they were on their Honeymoon and how despite being a touch ‘picture crazy’, a mix-up at their wedding resulted in a mere handful of photographed memories of their big day, and so they were hoping to capture some of those memories there on the beach. Talk about pressure, but again, ‘no time’, and so we just started taking pictures. I love working with people who want to get their pictures taken. When the blushing bride looked and me and literally said, “Anything for the picture,” I knew it was going to be a great session. As nearly everyone on the beach that night congratulated them and stopped to take their own pictures, you could see their cheeks redden and their smiles widen with all the attention. It may not have been their big day, but it sure felt like it, and aren’t those feelings the sweetest surprises in life!
