I love working with families. I love watching them interact with one another, because in those moments you can’t fake the connections. Having kids of my own, I love being able to communicate with other’s kids and find the things that make them excited; using that to make the shoot more enjoyable for them. Let’s face it, kids don’t always like to get their pictures taken, and getting all dressed up to smile at a stranger can seem overwhelming no matter what your age. First off, I want to say that this kid was great. Not only did he have a pinchable face, but he was so well behaved, and having a rambunctious 4-year-old myself, I was floored with how well behaved this kid really was. Early on in the shoot though, I could tell that he was a touch shy, and shyness can translate into pictures. So, I made it my mission to loosen him up. From silly faces to running and jumping to tickle fights and playing with a big red ball, I kept this kid (and his family) active as we wandered Punta Gorda. I love it when you can take the stress out of family pictures. To see this little boy, wide-eyed and smiling ear to ear; I felt happy to know that picture day turned out pretty fun after all!
