High School is such an important time because it is where so many start to find themselves…to spread their wings and discover who they are and who they want to be. As that part of one’s life draws to a close, it is time to step out into the world and follow the paths we’ve set for ourselves. It’s nice when we can walk that path side by side, hand in hand with another. This week I had the privilege of working with not one but two seniors on their portraits for the final chapter of their High School years, and they were an absolute joy. This young lady had such a kind spirit, and she exuded a genuine excitement about her shoot. Her parents informed me that she had been a nervous wreck her whole trip (they were here on vacation) but once we met and talked she seemed to ease right into the shoot. She came with ideas and was open to mine and they came together in the best ways! Her boyfriend had the ‘cool’ factor down pat and it bleed into each and every frame. When we met he asked me what I had in mind for him, because he wasn’t sure he wanted to get too posed…but when I mentioned the idea of his final shot, he was more than game and the final picture is one that feels, well, ‘cool’. They took some great pictures apart, and then some wonderful ones together, creating a portfolio that sums up the High School love story nicely.
