Spending the day at a new beach (to us) with friends and family made for a very special day. I’ve always loved discovering new places, but there is something so special about discovering them through a lens. It gives me a chance to not only discover a new place, but to discover new ways to frame and compose my shots. In these kinds of relaxed settings there is more opportunity to take a deep breath and just wait for the moments to come to you, following your subject until the subject and the scenery are in that perfect spot to create a moment that isn’t only pure and candid but also interesting in composition. I’ve recently become a touch obsessed with the idea of negative space (and different ways to interpret that idea), so with patches of blue, bursts of white and splashes of glistening waves, I fell in love with our day at the beach.
